Bike Ed. 2017

Aloha Room 28 'Ohana!
Another year of Bike Ed. completed!  Unfortunately, the weather and the NAEP testing were two "missed" dates of the program.  I'm glad we had at least 3 complete days of Bike Ed.!  It was AMAZING to see how some of you started as non-riders, and by the END of the week....(with only 2 days of "riding" the bikes, and one day of safety class (indoors) ), you were RIDERS! :)
It's always the case each year!  There's at least 5 non-riders at the beginning of the week, and by Friday, everyone is riding!  That is why we are so grateful for this FREE bike safety program that is offered to only 4th graders!  Mr. Chett and Ms. Shoko were very proud of our class!  They claimed that our group had the most riders and we had the most confident riders as well!  I really hope you all enjoyed Bike Ed.?
Mr. Chett really shared a lot of bicycle safety information and taught you many skills needed out on the road.  In this comment, I would like you to comment on two things:
     1.  Describe a bicycle safety rule you learned from Hawaii Bicycling League.
     2.  Explain what you believe was the BEST part of Bike Ed.

Comment Assignment due:  March 17, 2017
Doing a 6-point bicycle safety check!

This is how we ride SAFELY!

We did it!  Bike Ed Hawaii ROCKS!  :)
Mahalo Mr. Chett, Ms. Shoko, and Mrs Lewis!

I know you've all been enjoying time with them!  They have too! (I've heard that comment from Mrs. Kosaki)  :)
In your comment this week, please share 1 or 2 things you enjoy about Reading Buddies.  Next, please suggest an activity you'd like to see happen as a Reading Buddy activity.  Maybe your idea will get chosen before the end of the year is up?
Thank YOU for being a GREAT help to your Reading Buddy!  I'm sure they will never forget you!

"We Got Spirit......How 'bout YOU?"

Aloha Room 28 'Ohana!

Last week, it was our Student Council's Spirit Week!  It was a week of learning about oneself, others, and our school community!  It was a time to have fun, and a time to reflect.  It was a time to share and a time to listen.  Here are some of the memories we had created as a class during "Spirit Week!"
For this Blog comment (assignment), I would like for you to "comment" on the following:

In a complete sentence, please tell the class how many days did you participate in Spirit week?  Next, tell the class what your favorite Spirit Day activity was?  Why?  and finally, if you had the opportunity to add another day to Spirit Week, what event or activity would you create?

Enjoy the pictures of Spirit week!  You have 1 week to comment on this Blog.  You will have until February 7 to comment.
                                                                                          Aloha,

Aloha Room 28 'Ohana,

Yesterday we had a special holiday honoring the works, beliefs, and values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Dr. King was a Baptist Minister and a Civi Rights Activist.  He was well-known for his leadership in the Civil Rights Movement and the Peace Movement.  He was also famous for the speech "I Have A Dream,"  he delivered on August 28, 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial, in Washington D.C.
In the comment section below, I would like you to read and think about the quote written below on Dr. King Jr.'s poster (navy blue background).  In your comment:  First, write your own opinion as to what you believe or think this quote means?  Secondly,  I would like you to tell me and your classmates how you have made a DIFFERENCE  or  How do you plan to make a difference in the nearest future?
Please write your comment using complete sentences.  Please check your grammar, spelling, capitalizations, and punctuation before submitting.  Mahalo! :)

Welcome Room 28 'Ohana 2016-17 School year!

Aloha Room 28 'Ohana,
As we close out the first semester,  I would like to thank you all for being patient with me as I recovered from my illness at home.  I sure missed out on a LOT of school happenings and learning!  I sure hope you all had a great 2nd quarter with Mrs. Amoroso, Ms. Drury, Mrs. Rivera, and Mrs. Ninomoto too!  :)

As you all know, I wanted so much to begin "blogging" in the 2nd quarter, but life happens and we had to deal with it and work through it!  Now that the storm has passed, I feel it is time to begin anew! What a perfect time to start our blog up again....in the NEW YEAR!

As soon as I get permission from your parents, (YES, I MUST have their consent), you will be able to comment on the blog.  I will not post any of your pictures or comments unless I have their permission.  Otherwise, you can comment on any Blog assignments via hand-written responses, or using the school's google account.

I look forward to having the classroom blog up and running again with all that has been happening! I also look forward to working with you again in January!  On your mark, get set, get ready....LEARN!

Mrs. Wong
